Infused water

Infused water or as fancy scientists like to call it, Detox water, is water that is chilled with fruits, vegetables or herbs to make it flavorful . I used to think oh what difference would it possibly make, until last Ramadan.

You know how after a long hot day of fasting or during a hot summer day, when you feel that unquenchable thirst? Well that, so I decided to give infused water a try and you have no idea how much difference it made. It helps alot with hydration. There are also other health benefits like: improvement of digestive health, mood and energy levels, weight loss etc.

Here’s how you can make one:

It’s basically just water and fruits or vegetables or the combination of both. My favorite is just slices of cucumber or cucumber and mint.

You can use watermelon and mint, lemon and ginger, lemon and orange, or any fruit or herb of your choice. Be creative and play around with the flavors.

And the best part is that you can reuse whatever you’re infusing the water with, just refill the jug or tumbler or whatever container you want to use, with water and allow to infuse again till the flavor of the fruit is gone. Also the longer you allow it to sit the stronger the flavor. I normally allow it to sit for 2 hours to 5 hours max. You can let it sit for as long as you want but there’s a bit of a disclaimer, water infused with unpeeled citrus gets bitter when it sits for too long. That’s the only disadvantage.

A simple recipe to make hydrating fun.
